If you are wondering how to do the correct injection, read on. Firstly, we need to learn the preparation before injection. I will explain step by step how to do the correct injection in 7 steps, it may seem like a lot of work, but it's just a 2-3 minute process. With these steps, you will avoid unpleasant situations such as pain and infection after injection.

STEROID INJECTION- PREPARATIONS

STEP1; Needle Selection

You can ask for a green-tipped needle at the pharmacy. You can also ask for a 23g or 25g code. The needle tip should be 2.5cm and able to easily pass the oily solution. These needles are single-use, never use a needle twice.

STEP2; Suction and Compression

Once you have the syringe in your hand, first draw an equal amount of air into the syringe as the amount of steroid solution you will draw. Then transfer the air you drew into the bottle. Then you can draw as much steroid solution as you need. This step is not essential, but it will make your life easier. This step is not needed in ampoule steroids.

STEP3; Draw into the Syringe

After step 2, draw the steroid solution into the syringe.

STEP4; Removing Air Bubbles

We have all seen it in movies, the needle of the syringe is pointed at the air and two or three puffs are made with the index finger, and the air bubbles are brought to the top. The pump of the syringe is pushed out to remove the air bubbles.

STEP5; Sterilization

The area where the needle will be inserted must be thoroughly disinfected with alcohol or antiseptic.

STEP6; Placing the Needle and Making Sure it's in the Right Place

The needle is inserted into the disinfected area, before injecting the pump of the syringe is pulled back, and it is checked if there is blood in the syringe.

If there is blood in the syringe, you are in the wrong place, place the needle in another place and repeat the same process. If only air bubbles are coming into the syringe, you are in the right place.

The purpose of this step is to check whether you have hit the vein and nerve or not. If you hit the vein without realizing it, you may cough and have a metal taste in your mouth. Make sure you inject directly into the muscle.

FINAL STEP

You've come this far and if there is no blood in the syringe, you can slowly inject the steroid solution.
