GLUCOPHAGE 1000MG 100 TABLETS METFORMIN

• GLUCOPHAGE belongs to a group of drugs called oral antidiabetics (biguanides). Such drugs are used to treat diabetes (diabetes).

• Each film-coated tablet is in blister packs containing 30, 60, 90 and 100 tablets containing 1000 mg metformin hydrochloride.

• GLUCOPHAGE is a white, oval, biconvex, film-coated tablet with a break line on both sides and "1000" on one side. Tablets can be divided into two equal parts.

• Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas and given to the circulation, and allows your body to take glucose (sugar) from the blood. Your body uses glucose for energy or stores it for future use.

If you have diabetes, your pancreas does not produce enough insulin or your body cannot use the insulin produced regularly. This causes high levels of glucose in your blood. GLUCOPHAGE helps to reduce the glucose level in your blood to as normal as possible.

• GLUCOPHAGE is used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes who are particularly overweight (a type of diabetes mellitus called insulin-independent diabetes), where diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood sugar levels.
